🔗 Share this article UN:Me: An Cerebral Horror That Blends Survival Horror and Among Us Gameplay The latest Day of the Devs digital showcase revealed a number of intriguing upcoming titles, but one in particular has seized the imagination: UN:Me. Developed by Historia and Shueisha Games, this single-player experience seems to fuse together the oppressive atmosphere of a Silent Hill game with the paranoid deduction core of Among Us. "It's a distinctive experience where a young woman harboring multiple human souls within her needs to flee from a maze of the psyche," states producer Yasukazu Kawai. Stepping Into a Shattered Mind In UN:Me, players assume the role of an unnamed female protagonist seeming to be of high school age. Within her reside four distinct souls, all possessing their own fears and motivations. These entities can seize control spontaneously, releasing their deep-seated phobias upon her without warning. Judging by showcased footage, much of the narrative unfolds within a creepy hospital, though additional clips show the main character navigating a desolate chapel. A World of Personal Dread "What makes you fearful of? What causes you uncomfortable?" poses creative lead Shun Sasaki. "High places. Confined spaces. Authority figures. Things that seem trivial to other people can activate a deep instinct within us. This game explores that concept — fears that are unique to every individual." The core gameplay loop involves managing whichever soul emerges at any given time. However, these souls will change involuntarily during gameplay. During exploration, every persona's anxieties become amplified and attack the protagonist one after another. When the soul changes, so does the particular terror the player encounters. Eerie Visuals and a Fatal Choice Initially, UN:Me shares noticeable visual similarities with the Silent Hill franchise. The hospital is filled with orderlies who all share the same face, with unnervingly wide smiles. Patients in the lobby have enormous blooms where their heads should be. Flowers are a recurring theme, juxtaposing natural beauty with unnatural horror. Yet, UN:Me presents a singular mechanic. Players must determine which of the four souls haunting the heroine is the "true" one. "Each of the personas claims that the body belongs to them," notes a developer. "During the game, you need to figure out who is real." Once players have deduced a persona is an impostor, they are forced to destroy it. But, because every entity can deceive or hide the truth, it is very easy to make a mistake. "Perhaps you've already eliminated the true [soul] by your own actions," the narration suggests. "The last one remaining could be a fraud. Either way, your decisions are irreversible." UN:Me currently lacks a publicly announced launch window, but it is can be wishlist on platforms.
