This latest animated series, the most recent animated adventure by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It features our favorite group of outcasts, outcasts, and criminals kicking ass and taking names, while teasing at several heart-wrenching backstories for characters including Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.

Overall, the intro looks stunning. However, I felt that an element was missing in the song choice.

The intro employs "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar song created by artist the talented musician. This piece from the official score of the same name, the second one put out by Critical Role Productions LLC's record label Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a great sentimental choice, and I suspect that devotees of the second campaign will love its presence.

But for me, The series' intro doesn't quite capture the excitement and energy that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by singer-songwriter the artist, was an instant classic for me when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder Sam Riegel wrote words to the melody for the series' animated intro in 2018.

Including singing from one actress, another performer, a co-star, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the follow-up series at that point, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. This track that excites you before you start an installment of adventurous fun.

The show's intro with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the right notes in my opinion. It's an impressive piece of music, but from what I know of the group, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Of course, the creators has already said that the series will have a few changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. An adjusted mood for its opening seems to be one of them.
