The original creators behind the well-known ice cream brand Ben and Jerry's has stated that corporate owner the multinational conglomerate stopped the launch for an innovative pro-Palestinian ice cream flavor.

The entrepreneur, who established the company with Jerry Greenfield, revealed that he plans to independently develop this new product within a personal series highlighting causes the company has been prevented from speaking out about.

Longstanding Conflict Involving Founders and Parent Company

This latest development escalates the ongoing tension among the internationally recognized ice cream maker with its corporate parent, the British consumer goods corporation which has owned Ben & Jerry's since 2000.

Both founders have claimed how the parent company along with their ice cream division the Magnum brand improperly prevented Ben & Jerry's against "honouring its social mission".

The Fruit Sorbet as a Symbol of Solidarity

The entrepreneur stated via an Instagram video that he is creating an innovative watermelon-based frozen dessert, requesting consumer ideas regarding the product's name plus potential ingredients.

“I'm doing what they were prevented from doing,” Mr. Cohen declared from a cooking set. “I'm creating a watermelon-flavored frozen dessert that advocates for permanent peace for Palestinians while demanding addressing the harm that was done there.”

This particular fruit has become an emblem for support for Palestinians due to its coloration, which mirror the colors in the Palestinian flag – red, green, black and white.

Previous Social Engagement plus Current Developments

Several years ago, Ben & Jerry's refused to sell its products in territories occupied by Israel, resulting in Unilever selling their Israel business over to an Israeli distributor, thus allowing ongoing distribution in the occupied West Bank.

The new dessert series will be created through Ben's Best, the activist dessert company which originally established several years back to support former US presidential candidate Senator Sanders via the flavor "Bernie's Return".

Management Changes and Future Intentions

Mr. Cohen indicated that he plans to create additional ice cream flavors focusing on concerns that the company was silenced from speaking about openly by corporate restrictions.

The announcement comes after co-founder Mr. Greenfield resigned his position at Ben & Jerry's recently, following many years of involvement, citing concerns that its independence had been compromised following corporate moves to restrict its social activism.

At that time, Ben Cohen stated how "Jerry has a really big heart and the ongoing dispute with our parent company was breaking it."

"My heart leads me to keep working within the organization to advocate for corporate autonomy so that the company can fulfill the social mission, the principles which established its foundation and has maintained for decades," he told journalists.
