Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three Grand Slam tournaments major tournaments in the current campaign. Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of the last two tournaments in 2025 as a result of a medical condition she has been battling in recent days. The 22-year-old was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to regain her health ahead of launching plans for the 2026 season. These plans will include coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating in 2026. Raducanu underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity. She again required a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one. Her movement was far from freely in the deciding set versus Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has affected her at times this year. Those results followed a positive campaign, in which she climbed into the international top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses. She held three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event. The player achieved 28 matches this year and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March. She worked with trainer Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open. The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the collaboration persists, with a training block pencilled in late this year. Raducanu told that a three-day test period with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps. She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at their first tournament together in August's Cincinnati tournament. The coach also accompanied Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she advanced to round three then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
